Apple’s latest mobile operating system – the iOS 13 – is coming to town this Thursday, September 19th, 2019. But before you download the latest version, here are a few reminders.
Backup Your Files
If you set up your device for a regular backup, this is now the right time to do so. If you are one of those who cannot wait to see the latest look of Apple’s latest mobile operating system, you should know that the first versions normally is ‘unstable’ as what many tech analysts would tell you. So before diving in, make sure you have completely backed up your files in a safer place before anything else.
And there are two ways to do this: iTunes Backup and iCloud Backup. When using iTunes, of course, you will need to connect your iPhone to a computer using a Lightning cable and then open up iTunes. For those who trust the iCloud (assuming you still have enough space in your account, connect to a solid WiFi network then go to ‘Settings’ and tap on the Apple ID section at the very top. Tap on the ‘iCloud’ section, look for ‘iCloud Backup’ and then tap on ‘Back Up Now’.
Remember, while the minimum recommended space for the iOS 13 installation is around 3GB, opt to have higher space allocation. To be on the safe side, try to have at least 5 to 6GB space.
Compatibility with iOS 13
Another important thing you should know is that not all Apple devices are compatible with the latest iOS 13 (this is Apple’s way to retire old devices). The latest iOS 13 is said to be compatible only to an iPhone or iPad from the last four years which means if you have an iPhone 6 or older, no need to attempt upgrading your device.
Without further ado, here are the list of Apple mobile devices which can be upgraded to iOS 13: iPhone 6S or later (iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE), iPad Air 2 or later, the new iPad mini 4 and iPhone SE, and iPod touch 7th-generation.
Reserve to iPhone 11
Also, it is very important to understand that not all features will work on your Apple devices especially if it’s about 3-4 years old. Yes, iOS 13 has exclusive features to reserve to iPhone 11 phones only. But don’t you worry; these features are mostly found in its Camera settings. The reason behind this is that Apple is trying to maximize the potential of the phone’s powerful camera hardware.
The latest iOS 13 is said to contain the biggest collection when it comes to improved features. Check out the latest and improved features directly from Apple’s iOS 13 site.
